Add-Delay is a a blog, a promotional group, and quasi-label. We promote shoegaze, dream pop, noise pop and post rock music (and hell, anything else close that tickles our fancy) from around the world, Australia, and, in particular, the local Adelaide scene.
We feature and promote a select group of Adelaide bands from these genres, giving voice to kinds of music often bypassed by the mainstream press.
The blog however celebrates the scene worldwide, with reviews, profiles, interviews with bands around the globe. And to satisfy the itch of any true ‘gazer, we even throw in some effects porn and demonstrations.
Submissions
Whilst the Add-Delay team spends in-ordinate amounts of time scouring the net for music to write about (time they should be spending on things like sleep and work), we’re not omnipotent. If you wish to send us something you think we’ll like, then please drop us an email. Music samples, and images to accompany articles, always help.
Please be aware that we have no obligation to cover everything that is sent our way. We do cover only certain genres of music, so it’s only obvious that if we feel it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t go up. We are picky about the artists we feature in the Artists section, and usually we approach the bands, not the other way around. Having said that, if you feel you’re music is exceptional, a good stylistic fit, and you’re from Adelaide – let us know.

Dream Pop? Shoegaze? Huh?
Strange names, strange genres. They’re all closely related forms of alternative music, characterised by walls of sound – often made through the use of multiple guitars, delay and reverb (ah, so that’s where the site name comes from!), and distortion. This kind of music emerged, primarily in the UK, in the mid to late 80s, before peaking in the early 90s. Post Rock has held on since the mid 90s, whilst Shoegaze, Dream Pop and Noise Pop are now experiencing a worldwide revival.
